Assistant Planner, Engagement Team






The Engagement Team architects the most profitable and innovative way to invest our clients’ marketing dollars across integrated media, through audience targeting, strategic positioning, and buying/negotiating. Assistant planners are at the center of that pursuit, working closely with other members of the Engagement Team to develop, negotiate and steward these integrated media plans.


Assisting the Planners in marketplace analysis, target audience development, media vehicle investigation/negotiation, research, media plan development, creative trafficking, media optimizations and stewardship.


  • Provides support for integrated media recommendations, to potentially include the following:
  • Digital: display, native programmatic, cross-device
  • Online video, Connected TV (OTT) and Advanced TV
  • Paid Social: Facebook, IG, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Snapchat
  • Custom and branded content
  • Print
  • OOH
  • Broadcast
  • Provides data and recommendations for implementation into media plan
  • Becomes expert over time in software/media research tools such as ComScore, Kantar, MRI, Forrester, CommsPoint/Pointlogic
  • Collaborates across the Engagement team with partners in paid social, programmatic and ad operations, as well as with partners in these other agency departments: Account Management, Production, Brand/UX Strategy and Creative.
  • Keeper of all files and records pertaining to the clients in an organized fashion
  • Works with ad operations to provide correct spec information and ensure accurate delivery of campaigns

 Vendor Management

  • Acts as ambassador for The Martin Agency with the sales community
  • Account contact for media vendors
  • Negotiates media and added value
  • Collects and helps evaluate their RFP responses

Budgeting and Reporting

  • Manages budget trackers
  • Clears media invoices in a timely/ongoing manner
  • Data collector in the measurement process
  • Creates weekly or monthly reporting and optimization
  • Assists with reporting documents

Idea Generation

  • Offers innovative ideas
  • Contributes in team meetings with meaningful solutions
  • Works with planner to develop ideas to resolve client issues and meet business objectives
  • Demonstrates thought leadership by proactively sharing POV and trends with clients and colleagues

  • Four-year college degree required; Advertising or related major preferred
  • Media, Advertising or Marketing internship experience preferred
  • Highly organized, detail oriented, self-starter – will do a lot of work with MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, as well as Keynote
