Associate Creative Director, Experience Design





The Martin Agency is searching for an Associate Creative Director of Experience Design who can take on a leadership role, always acting as an inspiration for the team. The right candidate will help elevate our XD practice within the agency and serve as a coach and mentor to our Experience Design team.

Key responsibilities:

  • Generate innovative ideas across all existing and emerging digital platforms and inspire colleagues to create world-class, pioneering work
  • Articulate and justify conceptual and design choices and have an understanding that UX is more than personas and wireframes - that design aesthetics, copy, and flow matter
  • Guide, teach and mentor members of the Creative team in developing ideas further and be comfortable being part of the creative process from strategy to concepts to execution
  • Autonomously own a large project from kickoff to completion, often balancing multiple projects at once
  • Partner with clients on business goals from a visual standpoint
  • Participate and consult with UX Strategy in research activities such as persona development, customer journeys, competitive analyses, heuristic reviews and usability testing
  • Oversee and provide thought leadership in the assessment of existing sites/properties for usefulness, usability, visual design, content, and branding
  • Oversee all XD project deliverables (such as concept sketches, wireframes, site maps, user flows, prototypes, content inventories, etc.)
  • Champion principles of user-centered design and usability and know when to bend the rules and look for opportunities to innovate
  • Showcase your diverse interactive skills, sharing the latest and greatest
  • Maintain high quality on creative and presentation deliverables
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team on implementation feasibility to ensure Experience Design is realizable
  • Must be able to confidently present experience design work to clients and advocate persuasively for target users in a collaborative, win-win fashion. Independent thinking and effective oral and written presentation skills are required
  • Collaborate, multi-task and work efficiently under the pressure of deadlines


  • 7-10 years of design and strong interactive/digital work experience preferred
  • Creative agency experience desired
  • Balanced interaction design skills, visual design sensibilities and understanding of how disciplines exist together
  • Experience managing, mentoring and evaluating teams
  • Good presentation and time management skills
  • Ability to explain abstract, complex or cutting edge ideas in a straight-forward ways
  • Proven skills in presenting, client partnership and visual communication
  • Knowledge of Sketch, Invision, Protoype and/or other tools for generating wireframes and specifications
  • Knowledge of the capabilities of modern web technologies (including HTML5/CSS3/JavaScript, WebGL, SVG) and desire to stay at the forefront as new technologies emerge
  • Broad knowledge of social media and digital communications
  • Advanced knowledge of interaction design, user-centered experience design, brand development, digital marketing and the creative process
  • Experience managing usability testing (live and virtual) and working with Strategy to synthesize results into actionable design decisions.
  • Strong ability to provide clear creative direction and provide timely, helpful feedback to improve creative processes and to keep work on budget and schedule
  • Excellent presentation skills and communication abilities, both internal and client-facing

Candidate must be open to travel as needed
